Vettori Family
The Vettori family’s violin-making legacy began with Dario Vettori I, born in 1903 in Firenzuola. He started his musical journey in the 1920s and shifted to violin making in 1935. Despite losing their home during WWII, Dario’s passion remained unwavering. Inspired by Giuseppe Ornati, Dario earned several gold medals from 1956 to 1965, establishing his reputation. After his passing in 1973, his sons Paolo and Carlo continued his legacy, expanding the family’s reach internationally in the 1980s, especially in Japan and the U.S. In the 2000s, the third generation joined the business, setting up a workshop near the San Marco convent in Florence. With over 90 years of history and more than 1,500 violins crafted, the Vettori family remains Italy’s oldest violin-making family, preserving their passion for music and craftsmanship for future generations.
