Pietro Sgarabotto 1953

No less than his father, Gaetano Sgarabotto, who was one of the most excellent violin makers of the modern Italian, Petro has been highly praised especially for his having laid the foundations of violin making in Palma and Cremona.
His precise work and rich characters of his work have been modeled by many makers of the following generations and loved by many performers.
This violin, made in 1953, is crowned the name “MOSE.” It has been said it was named after the sculpture by Michelangelo placed in the San Pietro in Vincoli (Saint Peter in Chains) in Milan. It has powerful performance ability as well as graceful delicacy, which makes it worthy of its name.
